Qualifications:
To qualify for this scholarship you must be:
1. A dependent or spouse of a staff or faculty member of Virginia Tech.
2. An incoming freshman or entering transfer student in an undergraduate program.
3. Enrolled full time at Virginia Tech.
4. Apply for Financial Aid and complete all requirements including FAFSA and the general scholarship form by March 11.
Selection:
1. The Office of Personnel Services will verify the eligibility of applicants.
2. From applicants who have met advertised deadlines, the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will identify potential recipients suing standard criteria of need and non-need.
3. The number of awards, determined by available funds, will be distributed to recipients based on need and non-need criteria.
Awards:
1. Each year, the Office of University Development will report funds that are available in the scholarship account.
2. The scholarship committee will determine the number and the dollar amount of scholarships of equal value to be awarded.
3. The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will award the scholarship and apply the funds to the recipient's student account specified for single or multiple semesters during the year of study.
4. Should a scholarship recipient resign from the university, any balance from the scholarship award will be returned to the Foundation account.
Application Process:
Students, for the online application and general information about scholarships, please visit the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid webpage at http://www.finaid.vt.edu/ . Be sure to indicate on the application that your parent or spouse is an employee of Virginia Tech and include their name for verification so your application can be considered. Scholarships are currently being offered as a one-time award for freshman or incoming transfer students. In the past, the program has been able to provide scholarships to all eligible applicants. Early financial aid applications are important. General scholarship application and FAFSA must be submitted by the March 11 th deadline.
